Description

Welcome to 108 Park Street in Portland.  From the moment you walk down the tree lined row of stately brick townhouses, you will feel like you have entered a different time and place. (However, we promise you are still in the place you booked).  Built in the 1830’s, these homes have maintained their stoic charm on the outside including a petit courtyard with ivy crawling up to the roof line.

Located on a quiet, one way street, 108 Park places you in the heart of Portland’s art district with the nationally recognized Portland Museum of Art two blocks away. You are steps from Congress Street, where restaurants, shops and culture await you. In less than a five minute drive, you are in the Old Port district and waterfront area, where there is a magnificent collection of local favorite eateries, galleries, spas and shops. In 20-minutes, you can be at one of the local beaches or islands for a relaxing Maine experience.

Unit #3 has been completely renovated respecting original features such as ceiling medallions, transoms  and wide-plank hardwood floors. Using that as core inspiration, the owners of this apartment have filled it with compelling art and antiques, plush furnishings and whimsical touches, such as an antique chalkboard in the kitchen, that embody a Parisian spirit right in the heart of Portland. This property includes one parking space for the duration of your stay.

Note: This urban property is a third-floor walk-up. There is no elevator access.

Living Space/Kitchen: Located on the third floor, this apartment is a lovely blend of entertaining and resting space. Upon entering, you see a striking antique mirror to the left that has an energy reminiscent of Versailles. The wide-plank hardwood floors gleam with a honey-gold shine leading you to the kitchen on your left or master bedroom and bathroom on the right.
Fully renovated, the kitchen is a welcoming space of white marble, tile and vintage hardware. There is a breakfast bar with three stools, gas range, wine fridge, dishwasher and open shelving to display cups, plates and interspersed art. A marble bistro table with two sleek yellow chairs is a perfect spot for morning coffee and conversation...you can take notes about your plans on the large chalkboard, that is certainly the focal point of this area.

Through an enlarged opening, the formal living space is off the kitchen. A grand decorative fireplace and floor-to-ceiling tapestry give an aura of grandeur and history. Large windows allow for ample natural light and several plants are placed throughout the room. There is a couch, chair and small flat-panel TV. The windows, transoms and high-ceilings make this apartment feel more spacious than its 800-square feet.

Bedrooms/Bathroom: Turning right after you enter, the master bedroom and bathroom are set apart from the living space allowing more added privacy and quiet. The marbled-tiled full bathroom has a tub/shower, large window, linen closet and additional shelving. The master bedroom has a queen bed with luxuriously soft linens. There is a decorative fireplace, transom over the bed, compelling black and white photographs, closet and two large windows that overlook the back courtyard.
The second bedroom is a cozy nook off of the living room that is also an office space. There is a twin bed next to a large window that can also be a comfortable place to snuggle and read. There is a sleek desk. This room is full of vintage European art and maps, including an old Western Union telegram letting a loved one know the sender is tired, but has safely made the journey to Woodshole.
